Each evening I walk the dog around 9 o’clock. It’s a bitterly cold walk in the winter. There are few interesting sites to see along the way. But recently this phone booth caught my eye.
I love how the snow cocoons itself around the glass. Sometimes, if the snow has recently fallen, the door is completely blocked.
Phone booths are becoming more scarce in recent years. Many, like this particular one, only take special calling cards. I have only rarely seen a person inside. Usually it’s just to stay warm while using their cell phone.
On a side note, I nearly slept in a Japanese phone booth on an ill-prepared trek from a snow monkey onsen along the highway to Nagano. It almost happened. Still have time to make that dream come true.
